ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party leader Khursheed Shah Monday said in case the issue of caretaker prime minister’s nomination was not resolved in one day, the Parliamentary committee would make its decision on the matter.
Talking to media persons here, Khursheed Shah, dismissed the impression of a deadlock on the issue, saying the Parliamentary committee has five names before it for the office of the caretaker PM – three of them proposed by the outgoing government and two by the opposition.
He said in case the Parliamentary committee also failed to evolve a consensus then the matter will ultimately be forwarded to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and in this way the incumbent Prime Minister would get a total of 8 days in the office following the dissolution of National Assembly.
Shah expressed his inability to comment on the name of Justice (Retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid as a nominee for the interim PM’s slot but added that he would express whatever reservations he has in case the matter is referred to the Parliamentary Committee.
